In doctoral studies, these courses are mainly meant to encourage interdisciplinary debate on current topics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Master&#8217;s Candidates: Core Courses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Master&#8217;s candidates should choose two of the five core courses offered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Social Theory<\/li>\n<li>Anthropological Theory<\/li>\n<li>Political Theory<\/li>\n<li>Agrarian Roots of Brazilian Social Development<\/li>\n<li>Nature and Society<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Doctoral Candidates: Core Courses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Doctoral candidates should choose two of the six core courses offered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Theories on Contemporary Societies<\/li>\n<li>Contemporary Brazilian Social and Political Thinking<\/li>\n<li>Development Theories<\/li>\n<li>Economic Sociology<\/li>\n<li>The Rural and Ruralities in Contemporary Society<\/li>\n<li>Political Economy of the International Regime<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Courses Specific to the Line of Research<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The courses specific to the line of research are intended to provide a theoretical, methodological, and historical foundation for the variety of content in each of the program&#8217;s six lines of research:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Line 1: Studies on Rural Culture and the Rural World<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dynamics of Family Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>Family, Community, and Politics<\/li>\n<li>City and Country as Images<\/li>\n<li>Literary Representations of the Rural World and Nation<\/li>\n<li>City as a Sociological Theme<\/li>\n<li>The Topic of Culture in the Contemporary Scenario<\/li>\n<li>Special Topics in Studies of Rural Culture and the Rural World<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Line 2: Institutions, Markets, and Regulation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Agriculture and Agroindustrial Structures<\/li>\n<li>Economics and Politics of Natural Resources and the Environment<\/li>\n<li>The Brazilian Economy<\/li>\n<li>Institutions, Organizations, and Strategies<\/li>\n<li>Topics in the Agri-food System<\/li>\n<li>The Sociology of Food<\/li>\n<li>Special Topics in Institutions, Markets, and Regulation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Line 3: Conflicts, Social Movements, and Political Representation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organization, Politics, and Power<\/li>\n<li>Intellectuals and Political Culture<\/li>\n<li>Political Sociology<br \/>\nSocial Movements<\/li>\n<li>Special Topics in Social Movements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Line 4: Nature, Science, and Knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Global Conventions on the Environment and Comparative Local Responses<\/li>\n<li>Comparative Agro-Environmental History<\/li>\n<li>Special Topics in Nature, Science, and Knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Line 5: Public Policies, the State, and Social Actors<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Public Policies for Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>Comparative Analysis of Agricultural Systems and Policies<\/li>\n<li>Economic Policies of the Global Commerce System<\/li>\n<li>Local Development Theory and Policy<\/li>\n<li>Anthropology of Policy<\/li>\n<li>Special Topics in Public Policies, the State, and Social Actors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Line 6: Land, Power, and Territory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The courses that comprise this line of research are currently being restructured.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The courses at CPDA are divided into three categories: Required Core Specific to the line of research &nbsp;
