The focus of this line of research is themes related to development, institutions, markets, business strategies, and consumer behavior, considering the reordering of public/private relations and patterns to connect interests. Research topics include: institutions, conventions, and institutional change; the agri-food system; competition as process, transaction and governance costs; trust, the role of contracts, companies, their skills and strategies, technological innovation, and the knowledge society; different consumer practices in different agri-food markets; the convention on sustainability, regulation of externalities, valorization of environmental resources, markets for environmental services; negotiation of global trade conventions, intellectual property rights and the environment, etc.
