Professor Bruno holds a bachelor’s degree with teaching qualification in social sciences from the Federal University of Ceará (1971), master’s degree in sociology from UnB (1976), Diplome d’ Étude Approfondies from the Université de Paris III IHEAL-Paris III (1977–1979), and doctorate in social sciences from UNICAMP (2002).

Her areas of research and study include social theories, rural employer organization and representation, agribusiness and domination/power relations, the ruralist lobby, business agriculture, the agrarian issue, and agrarian reform.

Professor Bruno is the coordinator of the Center for Studies and Research on Ruralism, Agribusiness, and Power Relations (NARUP). She was a visiting researcher (FUNCAP scholar) and a guest professor at the Federal University of Ceará’s graduate program in sociology (2012 and 2013).
