Professor Delgado holds a degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1967), a master’s in economics from New York University (1974), and a doctorate from the Graduate Program in Social Sciences in Development, Agriculture, and Society at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (2000).

He has experience in the areas of economics and social sciences with an emphasis on rural issues, mainly: territorialization, public policies, and rural development; social actors and local development; family agriculture; Brazilian agriculture and economy; public policies; the global political economy; international trade regime, and agriculture.

He has provided consulting services for governments, NGOs, and international bodies in various fields, including the World Social Forum.
