Professor Romano holds a degree in anthropological sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (1978), a master’s in anthropology from the University of Brasília (1982), and a doctorate in social sciences in development, agriculture, and society from UFRRJ (2007).
He coordinates the Discourse, Social Networks, and Socio-Political Identity Research Group (DISCURSO) (https://www.gpdiscurso.com) and is a member of the Observatory on Public Policies for Agriculture (OPPA).
He has researched and advised graduate students in the social sciences with an emphasis on anthropology and political science in the following areas: public policies, political analysis of discourse, democratization and struggle for rights, and poverty and local development.
He has collaborated with NGOs, governments, and international organizations on these issues.
