Professor Kato is a researcher with the Observatory on Public Policies for Agriculture (OPPA) and the Study Group on Social Change, Agribusiness, and Public Policy (GEMAP), both linked to CPDA/UFRRJ; she is a collaborating researcher with the Alterative Policies for the Southern Cone Institute (PACS) and a researcher with the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Studies on International Relations (LIERI/UFRRJ).

She holds master’s (2006) and doctorate (2012) degrees from CPDA/UFRRJ. She obtained her undergraduate degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IE/UFRJ) in 2003.
