Research Line on Nature, Science, and Knowledge

The main objective is to link the study of natural processes with sociopolitical and cultural processes. This line addresses nature/society relations from the perspective of socioenvironmental conflicts, state and market policies to manage nature, the production of scientific and local knowledge about the natural and social world, prioritizing analysis of the interaction between natural and sociopolitical agencies, as well as resulting impacts on the world-system. The following are topics of interest for this line: environmental conflicts; conflicts between scientific and local knowledge, technological innovations and visions of natural preservation; intercultural production of knowledge; biodiversity, natural phenomena, and society; laws and policies for environmental control and management; climate change and environmental regulation; energy, water, and the struggle to control and exploit natural resources; technologies and biotechnologies to exploit nature; agroecology and environmental movements, etc.
